70cl 46% abv Distilled in 1993, and bottled late in 2012, after 19 years maturing in virgin American White Oak casks, this expression, the fourth in the Private Edition series, was released in January 2013. The Ealanta is, without doubt, one of the finest whiskies I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. It was named best whisky in the world by Jim Murray in his 2014 Whisky Bible with a score of 97.5 points. If I could only have one bottle of whisky, this would be it. The nose is amazing, like a fine sauvignon blanc, bursting with peaches, apricots, butterscotch and vanilla. The taste is devine, with sweet marzipan, sugared almonds, orange peel and vanilla, then the long, long finish eventually developes into oaky spicy notes of ginger and cloves and stays on your palate for ages. A great whisky indeed!
