Jack Ryan Irish whisky is distilled at the Cooley distillery in County Louth. This particular single malt bottling was produced to commemorate 100 years of the Ryan family's ownership of the Beggars Bush pub in Dublin, in 2013. According to the Jack Ryan website, it's a limited release of only 1,450 bottles, so pretty rare stuff. It's also pretty good, going down a storm at our recent St. Patrick's Day tasting. Non-chilfiltered and matured in ex-bourbon casks, it is a well balanced, smooth dram, with notes of honey, peaches and apricots on the palate, and a long, malty oaky finish. A real gem.
