Wire Works Port Cask (70cl, 50.2%ABV)

The Wire Works Port Cask in the core range is a vatting of fresh Tawny Port barriques and first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, bottled at 50.2% ABV. The result is a complex and rich whisky, non-chill filtered and with no added colouring. 

Nose: Notes of cinder toffee, Bakewell pudding, milk chocolate, burnt sugar, marzipan, and strawberry jam. Reviewers on theheartcut.com also mention rich, smoky notes reminiscent of burnt ends and stewed plums.

Palate: Flavours of marzipan, strawberries and cream, vanilla fudge, tinned peaches, milk chocolate, and orange zest. According to the chaps at Master of Malt, one can expect candied orange peel, treacle, blackcurrant jam, and a hint of cigar box.

Finish: A finish with notes of cherry pie filling, coffee grounds, bonfire toffee, and eucalyptus. The heartcut.com notes a lingering finish of scorched strawberries, smoked blackberries and cola bottles.
